Installation without Monitor

Hi all,

I am trying to install arch on a machine without a possibility to connect a monitor. The only way will be to modify the installation image and do it via ssh, I guess.
I am not familiar with syslinux but I think to change the TIMEOUT value in /arch/boot/syslinux/syslinux.cfg to zero will boot the live system immediately. So if udev hopefully will load all necessary modules, there are just 2 things left to do: run the dhcp and ssh daemon. But i don't have a clue, how to do that.

Re: Installation without Monitor

Well, for example using an Ubuntu live-USB stick with persistent storage could solve that problem for you. Start the stick on a system with Monitor, enable SSHD/VNC and boot it with the "monitorless" machine wink Does your system boot from USB (automatically)?

Re: Installation without Monitor

It should just be a matter of adding dhcpcd and sshd to the daemons array in rc.conf on the live cd. The article below is a good place to start. I tried something similar a few years back with Puppy; if you can pull it off you'll have my respect (though it's much easier to manage in Arch than in Puppy).
