Overheating and Battery drain when WiFi is off after update

Hi everybody! Here's the deal: I upgraded to Kernel 3.1.9 three days ago, everything went fine, I'm on a Acer Aspire 4552 with a Broadcom Wireless adapter (I'm using the opensource driver, brcmsmac. it was working great before the upgrade). And when I shutdown the Wifi to access internet with a USB mobile broadband, the computer starts an overheating process that drains the battery. The cores are working to 10% (I'm using gnome's system monitor) when that happens. As soon as I turn on the wireless adapter, the computer's temperature begins to fall.

Any ideas? sad
