Error message when booting "hardware: HDA-Intel"[SOLVED]

when I am booting up I notice a "[FAIL]" message appears. This is the first time I've encountered this at boot. Here is the whole message:

Thu Jan 19 05:31:30 2012: :: Restoring ALSA Levels [BUSY] Found hardware: "HDA-Intel" "Intel Cantiga HDMI" "HDA:10ec0269,1025022a,00100004 HDA:80862802,80860101,001000
Thu Jan 19 05:31:30 2012: Hardware is initialized using a generic method
Thu Jan 19 05:31:30 2012: [FAIL]

this is probably a simple oversight on my part, but I just haven't pinpointed where its coming from.

Try running

# alsactl -f /var/lib/alsa/asound.state store

and then reboot
