Wireless Card Issues

Hello, I have an HP G42 notebook.

Yesterday, my wireless was working fine, today I opened up my laptop, which had been suspended with pm-suspend and tried to connect to my wireless.  I have two problems.

Firstly,I got an error about it not being possible due to RF-Kill, or some such thing.  The LED on my wireless indicator doesn't work, but since I wasn't the last person to use my laptop, I hit the button to toggle it (I didn't have rfkill installed at the time, so I couldn't check that way).  After that, it says

Could not set interface wlan0 flags: No such device
Could not set interface 'wlan0' UP
Could not set interface wlan0 flags: No such device
Failed to initialize driver interface

So, I'm not sure why this is happening.  wlan0 shows up in ifconfig -a and iwconfig. 

After getting caught in this loop, where toggling the wireless put me between not being able to connect due to RF-Kill and the device not existing, apparently, I put it back into the "no such device" state and restarted.  It still doesn't work, it just says DHCP lease failed, and I don't know what logs to check for that.  I'll edit this after I reboot to figure out what that specific error message is, if there is one.

Oh, and yes, I checked other forum posts and tried things suggested in some of those.  I installed rfkill but that hasn't seemed to help at all.  I'm at a loss.

Edit: Okay, after restarting, it seems to work now... so, issue number 2 is no longer a problem, but I'm still curious about issue number 1, since I know I've hit the toggle before by accident and hitting it again made it work just fine again...
