I've read on other forums its nvidia drives not playing nice with Xorg or the the other way around. I've tried different ver. (latest and beta) but they all make laptop unresponsive. I've checked the xorg.0.log but it comes up empty I'm assuming its due to the crash because if I check the xorg.0.log while logged in I can see whats in the log. I've tried the PowerMizer trick but it doesn't work for me so its safe to say that's not my problem.
Arch Linux 32-bit
NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTX (NVIDIA 290.10-2)
X.org 1.11.3

Try Ubuntu's xorg-server 1.10.4 - is in AUR.
Rock solid for me.

I'm trying LTS kernel... intel_iommu=off didn't work for me so I'm just gonna downgrade my kernel. I've installed kernel26-lts and added to my menu.lst but now it's saying nvidia modules cannot be found. What did I miss?

Well the LTS kernel didn't work, and the Ubuntu xorg-server didn't work either. Maybe it's something else? I don't get why it works with the nouveau drives but not the nvidia. >_<
