Instability. Possibly caused by SP5100_TCO driver.

I keep having random restarts on my machine. The only error i'm seeing in errors.log, which also appears during the boot process is, and which is also from around the time is the following:

Jan 19 20:23:10 localhost kernel: [    6.495358] SP5100 TCO timer: mmio address 0xfec000f0 already in use

I've seen in other posts and resources that this issue can cause restarts and general instability. I've also read that it should be possible to bypass it by blacklisting the driver. I've tried blacklisting the SP5100_TCO driver with no luck. I still get the restarts and the error message. Are there any suggestions for resolving the reboot, or resolving the driver issue or both?
Assistance is greatly appreciated.

Re: Instability. Possibly caused by SP5100_TCO driver.

I created a file called blacklist.conf in modprobe.d which contains the line: blacklist SP5100_tco. I still get the error in my log file and on reboot.

Is there anything I can post, perhaps an error log or something, that I could check to attempt to determine the cause or resolution of the issue?

I'll do you a favour and move this to the correct sub-forum - Kernel & Hardware

You wrote your modul name wron in your blacklist.conf, write

blacklist sp5100_tco

(case sensitive)
