[Solved] Installing Arch From Within Arch

I have a RevoDrive 3 which needs linux 3.2 to be detected, I was trying to make a new install cd but that was too much of a PITA. I then found the nightly builds of the install CDs and was about to try them. I then got the idea to install arch from within my currently running arch install thats on a different drive. Following this guide I've run into a road block.

When I issue the command pacman -Sy -r /media/revodrive I get the error error: failed to initialize alpm library (could not find or read directory). I've tried it both as root and my normal user but still get the same error. I google'd this message and found that someone else was also getting this same problem and it was because /usr/local/bin was listed before /usr/bin in PATH. I changed that but it didn't seem to change anything.

edit: nevermind. apparently I didn't have /media/revodrive/var/lib/pacman created because my $new_arch variable didn't work.
