VDPAU 1080p makes me cry

Hi,

I use the VDPAU acceleration of my nvidia Quadro FX 570M. It worked flawlessly for a long time, until nvidia driver 260 or sth. came out. Back then going back to earlier versions helped, but they already started to need patching for newer kernels.
Now, we are at version 290.10 of said driver. I still cannot watch 1080p with a current driver. It's just too slow. 720p videos work with very little CPU usage.

Does anybody else have the same issue, or had it back then, and knows a solution?
