only html5 items can make sound.

I have installed pulseaudio, alsa, and all the gstreamer plugins
the only things that actually produce sound, however are Google Music and Youtube with HTML5 videos.

I'm not even sure what config files to post for this, whatever you need I'll post, this is an odd issue.

(things that don't work include mp3s through banshee, rhythmbox, mplayer and flash Videos on any site as well as various system sounds like a ping on receiving a message.)

What sound card do you use? Is it an expansion on onboard?

Re: only html5 items can make sound.

[mxiia@homebox ~]$ cat /proc/asound/cards
 0 [SB ]: HDA-Intel - HDA ATI SB
HDA ATI SB at 0xfe020000 irq 43
[mxiia@homebox ~]$ lspci | grep -i audio
00:14.2 Audio device: ATI Technologies Inc SBx00 Azalia (Intel HDA)

It's onboard.
