[SOLVED/Workaround] udev - Boot Warning Spam - "No caching mode pr..."

The recent updates, the number of warning messages from udev/kernel has slowly increased.

I do not know if this is inteded, i.e these messages are supposed to have been shown to the user per default,
or if it is because of new capabilites.

This seems to happen when udev starts; "No caching mode present for /dev/sdd, assuming drive cache - write through"
I have looked it up, and it just tells me about there being no caching  mode found on the drive,
and that is fine.

What i do not know, is where to make it not tell me this, four times, at every boot.

sdd is an usb-harddrive, with an annoying sleep-function, and thus needs to spin up for a bit
at every boot, thus the udev messages happens at random places in the init,
before, or after - or even AT the login prompt, making it messy.

(On another note - Now one can jump upwards and downward from the login-prompt line with the cursor,
feels finicky smile

Is this something that has been flagged wrongly in an update, making it appear on stdio at boot,
which should only show in a log?

If anyone has any input on how/where point could be looked at, i would be grateful smile

I am on a "tidying up my system"-roll.

, Anyways, i am thankful for all the good work from the Arch-devs,
and our community spirit here all in all smile

This thread seems to be of the same/similar issue: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=135865

Re: [SOLVED/Workaround] udev - Boot Warning Spam - "No caching mode pr..."

I've added

loglevel=3

to my boot-time parameters, which has cut down the nonsense that outputs at boot time.  Maybe this will help you?

Re: [SOLVED/Workaround] udev - Boot Warning Spam - "No caching mode pr..."

do i add that to the grub kernel line?
I might try it,but i believe udev shouldn't output the message to tty1 in the first place
- ending up covering my login prompt.

I have googled a lot, but haven't found any tip in the right direction yet,
i ponder wheter i should make a bug report upstream towards udev,
or if it is a packaging issue here in arch.

Re: [SOLVED/Workaround] udev - Boot Warning Spam - "No caching mode pr..."

The loglevel=3 work-around fixed the actual tty-spamming atleast,

Thanks for the input. smile
