I really like GnuCash, but it's a nightmare to package since it has a lot of old dependancies (it's not GTK2), and thus it's a bit difficult to run on Arch. Aside from that, I've been testing out a bunch of other options the past couple of weeks (both free and not free) such as Grisbi, Money Dance, and some Windows solutions.
What I've settled on is jGnash, which is Java-based and very similar to GnuCash. It's double-entry and saves its data with XML and seems to have steady development...I had been testing it out for a couple of days, found a bug, reported it, and the developer had it fixed and updated within about 5 hours.
I'm currently working on a PKGBUILD for it, and will post as soon as it's done...hope that helps!

There's also kmymoney2 but its pretty basic:
pkgname=kmymoney2
pkgver=0.7.0
pkgrel=1
pkgdesc="Personal finance software for KDE"
url="http://kmymoney2.sourceforge.net/"
license="GPL"
groups=('kde>=3.0')
depends=()
source=(http://dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/$pkgname/$pkgname-$pkgver.tar.bz2)
md5sums=('3185ee9ad859c9e0dd7f4ef007f9c3b9')
build() {
cd $startdir/src/$pkgname-$pkgver
./configure --prefix=/opt/kde
make || return 1
make DESTDIR=$startdir/pkg install
}

Finished the PKGBUILD for jGnash, if you're interested in trying it out...grab it from this thread.

Well I broke down and bought CrossOver Office and Quicken. It works rather well. Does what I need it to.

wait..is having money a prerequisite to managing your finances?
hmm. I might have to get some of this "money" stuff.

i have a tin for loose change. after so long i use this to purchase beer. What else is there to manage ?
Hijack: Talking of beer, heres a nice amusement. Put your Finance calc to amusing use.
You and your buddies go down to the shop with the carefully calculated sum for the purchase of beer. Fill the trolley with your selection, quality brands of course. Also put a packet of Nappies (Daipers) in the trolley.
Choose a checkout with a motherly type of assistant.
When the cashier totals it all up, and it comes to the said amount, which is your calc'ed total PLUS the cost of nappy pack, argue amongst yourselves and then say "the nappies best go back then".
Have your mobile camera ready for the expression on the womans face.
