I hate how firefox stores favicons inline in the bookmark file. I did a bookmark export, and checked the filesize..
yikes. it was 420K
I ran a simple sed line on it...
sed -i "s#ICON=".*" ##g" bookmarks.html
Now the file is 130K...

Thanks for the tip, it shrunk from 260 KB to 53 Kb...
I'll put the thing in a script, something like
#!/bin/sh
cd ~/.mozilla/firefox/*.default/ &&
cp bookmarks.html bookmarks.html.bak`date +"-%F-%T"` &&
sed -i "s#ICON=".*" ##g" bookmarks.html

oooh. ooh. I found a way to turn off favicon support in firefox.
in about:config
browser.chrome.favicons = false
browser.chrome.site_icons = false
That is also one less http request for every website I visit. For some reason, maybe psychologically, it feels like everything is faster now.
