Pulseaudio and other errors while booting

Hi.
Everytime I boot my laptop, a Thinkpad X220 I get these errors in my /var/log/errors.log:

Maybe somebody can give me some advice to fix these errors. The only thing I found on the internet was this launchpad entry: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour … bug/773443 but it has expired.
Also there is an NetworkManager error which I can't correlate. Who can help?

Re: Pulseaudio and other errors while booting

Check the ALSA Wiki for troubleshooting.  https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ad … chitecture

Do you get any errors when you try to manually start alsa?

# /etc/rc.d/alsa force-restart

Also, please post the output of "aplay -l"

As far as the network manager error, its seems to be an old bug that has been fixed already (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour … bug/686320 and https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=112784).  Are you using the latest networkmanager?

Re: Pulseaudio and other errors while booting

Hi natestar13,

there are erros when I restart alsa manually (german localization...):

:: Trying to TERM or KILL processes that are blocking ALSA... [BUSY] Kann Status von "/dev/snd/by-path:" nicht ermitteln: Ungültige Adresse

Networkmanager version is 0.9.2.0-2, it's the curruent version I guess.
I'll check out the Alsa Wiki at first.

Re: Pulseaudio and other errors while booting

Have you solved the problem yet? I got exactly the same error on my Thinkpad X220i.

Re: Pulseaudio and other errors while booting

I think it has to do with needing to configure your default sound card. On mine card29 is something else - I'm not sure what, but it isn't what I want for sound. card0 is the one I need for sound.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ad … sound_card may help. Maybe not, though. It looks as though I tried to use this and ended up disabling it. I never did get PulseAudio to work. (Which is too bad because I think it might be needed to get the internal microphone working - has anybody managed that?)

Re: Pulseaudio and other errors while booting

Hi!

I think I have the same problem! I'm using a creative soundblaster 5.1 usb soundcard. Sound in alsa works, put pulseaudio is totally broken!

/etc/rc.d/alsa force-restart

And this is what I get from from $ pulseaudio

E: [pulseaudio] module-alsa-card.c: Failed to find a working profile.

This problem is killing me! The usb sound card only works in 5.1 with pulseaudio. And stereo is kind of lame for movie-night!

Also searching the internet up and down reveals no clue except for people who claim a simple reboot did the trick. For me no combination of killing/restarting alsa/pulseaudio did anything to change the above error from pulseaudio.

cheers!
