Re: e17-cvs packages

@Euphoric Nightmare: Yes it's actually the first thing which is faster with xcompmgr lol

@GJ: E17 also has the middle-click for window list feature. Expose would be much better though if it collected windows from all virtual desktops, not just the active one.

@sud_crow: Cool, so the .dot part seems to be resolved and now both url's should be working now. My pkgbuilds will stay rensel compatible, no worries wink As for the e17genmenu I didn't upload it, because it doesn't work well with the recent changes in e17 neutral It is supposed to import kde/gnome menu entries to e17 menu. Unfortunately, it segfaults in the middle of converting the menus and you're left with empty kde/gnome categories in your e17 menu. I'm afraid there's nothing we can do about it atm, it has to be fixed to play nice with the new .eap format of icons. I'll remove e17genmenu entry from repo database.

@CyberTron: Thanks for spotting that. I'm going to fix it right away.

There will be an update of the packages today. I also plan to add some new apps to the repo. Cheers.

PKGBUILD
Enlightenment DVD/Video CD Player
· envision-cvs - 060705
PKGBUILD
Enlightenment Media Player
· expose - 2.3

Re: e17-cvs packages

I'm having trouble getting e17 up and running from your repo:

[sgillespie@SG-Arch01 ~]$ sudo pacman -Sy e17

    esmart etox evas ewl imlib2-devel imlib2_loaders e17-cvs e_modules-cvs
    e_utils-cvs eclips-cvs elation-cvs elicit-cvs engage-cvs entice-cvs
    entrance-cvs examine-cvs
    Install whole content? [Y/n] Y

error: e conflicts with e17-cvs

Any ideas?

Re: e17-cvs packages

@Dreameen: Might be a good idea to add 17genmenu to your repo, as Nickm has done.

Also, could you please rename your "e17" group to "e17-cvs" for compatibility with the AUR?

Re: e17-cvs packages

It looks like e from community repo is conflicting with e17-cvs from my repo. Try commenting out community repo in pacman.conf and then do pacman -Sy e17. Meanwhile, I'll see what I can do about this repo conflict.

It was able to install the packages, but when I try to run 17 it segfaults and doesn't let me get into it.

Euphoric: Did you use GL-version or "software"-version of E17?

I noticed that the gl-version can segfault...

Re: e17-cvs packages

Ok guys, I have to edit&&recompile&&upload some of the packages again to avoid the repo/group name conflict sad It will take some time before all of the packages are Community repo compatible. When it happens, my packages will be divided into 3 groups: e17-cvs, e17-extra , efl. So basically, to install e17 from my repo you would do pacman -S e17-cvs and NOT pacman -S e17, because this is the group that packages from Community repo are using.

@Euphoric Nightmare: If you're using the opengl version of e17, *don't*. E17-opengl is considered highly unstable and will cause your X to crash unexpectedly. I put the opengl version on the server, in case someone feels adventurous enough to try it.

@Meshuggin: That's because my http server is down. I will get it up and running after I upload the non-conflicting packages.

If anyone runs into

error: e conflicts with e17-cvs

problem, comment out the Community repo for the time of upgrading your e17 packages.

Here's a linky to non-opengl version:

Install it and everything should be fine.

Re: e17-cvs packages

Okie, the fixed packages are on the server. There should be no repo conflicts now. If you spot any problems, let me know so I can fix it, but the repo should be fully functional now.

@GJ: I added gen17menu to the repo. Use it at your own risk though wink

Oh, and the PKGBUILDs should now be available as well.

Re: e17-cvs packages

I don't think i used the opengl version.  I didn't explicitly tell pacman to install it.

As for the error I'm not at home but I'll try to explain it:

I log in using gdm.  Once i put in my login information and login, I'm greeted with this lovely error message box.  It tells something to this effect:

This is not good!  Enlightenment has segfaulted.

And then it goes for two more paragraphs about how I should compile it with a certain debugging option to help them fix bugs, and make sure that I have the correct libraries installed.

And then it asks me to Ignore, Restart, or Exit.

Re: e17-cvs packages

Hm, I'm not 100% sure, but I think that yesterday's e17-cvs package was compiled with opengl by default(my mistake). So the first thing you should try is installing the new e-cvs package which is compiled with software mode. The issues you're having are typical for opengl enabled e17 and I see no other explanations for the segfault in your case.

Also, make sure that you're not mixing packages from Community repo with mine packages. If that's the case, I'd reccomend removing all e17 related packages and doing a fresh install from one repo.

Re: e17-cvs packages

Dreameen,
Thanks for setting up the repo. When I try to 'pacman' e17-extra and efl, I get these messages (trimmed for shortness)

etox-cvs: /opt/e17/bin/etox-config: exists in filesystem
  etox-cvs: /opt/e17/include/Etox.h: exists in filesystem
  etox-cvs: /opt/e17/lib/libetox.a: exists in filesystem
  etox-cvs: /opt/e17/lib/libetox.la: exists in filesystem
  etox-cvs: /opt/e17/lib/libetox.so: exists in filesystem
  etox-cvs: /opt/e17/lib/libetox.so.0: exists

and for efl;

etox-cvs: /opt/e17/bin/etox-config: exists in filesystem
  etox-cvs: /opt/e17/include/Etox.h: exists in filesystem
  etox-cvs: /opt/e17/lib/libetox.a: exists in filesystem
  etox-cvs: /opt/e17/lib/libetox.la: exists in filesystem
  etox-cvs: /opt/e17/lib/libetox.so: exists in filesystem
  etox-cvs: /opt/e17/lib/libetox.so.0: exists in filesystem
  etox-cvs: /opt/e17/lib/libetox.so.0.0.9: exists in filesystem
  etox-cvs: /opt/e17/lib/pkgconfig/etox.pc: exists in filesystem

What pacman command or procedure should I be using to solve this?

Thanks,

Jim

Re: e17-cvs packages

It looks like you have an old installation of e17 on your system. You have 2 options:

1. Remove the old e17 packages and then install the new ones.
2. Use pacman -Sf e17-extra efl to overwrite the existing files.

The first option is the preferred one, but the choice is yours. 8)

If you want to know in detail what 'pacman -Sf does', then 'man pacman' is a good lecture smile

Okay folks, I'm going to hit the sack now, so I won't be around for a while, but I'm sure other users will provide you with further guidance. Peace out 8)

Re: e17-cvs packages

OK,
Per Dreameen's suggestion I pacman -R'd all of e17. Then I deleted the /opt/e17 directory.

Then I pacman-S'd e17-cvs, e17-extra and efl.  Now when I try starting E it tells me that it can't open libembryo.so.0. When I look at an older e17 on another box I find it's a link to libembryo.so.0.9.1 which is also in /opt/e17/lib.

As I don't know where it comes from I tried copying it from teh other box and it still won't work (same fail message).

Does anyone have any ideas where in e17 libembryo. comes from?

Okay, that should explain it.  If I just install the new e17 packages, then I won't have gl e?

For Joe User, no. At this stage Evas doesn't use Cairo as default for anything which is great because it's not as quick as the software engine or GL.
