As a Fluxbox user, I use fbrun almost exclusively instead of the menu. It's just quicker that way. Fbrun is ugly as sin, though, so I went and made a gtk run prompt. There are others, but I found they had features that got in my way or annoyed me. Plus I was bored, so there you go. Like fbrun, this pops up in the center of the screen, lets you type your commands, and gets the hell out of the way!
