hello guys,
how are things going for you TUs?
dusty said that contrasutra left and he wrote most of the newsletter so some of you may think of picking it up, thats the TUs responsibility among other things,
phrakture already has showed some interest in it so you can vote for him to do it,
i put my user vote on him, 8)
or if you are twelve tus you can do one nr each, then you just have to do 2/year ,
arch + gentoo + initng + python = enlisy

You could apply to join the TUs and help out rather than giving orders...

twelve? did we get cloned?
I agree with Dusty. More work for Xerxes

the thing is, there are packages some of us can package more easilly than others (I'd assume this is always the case) - i.e. in order for me to do any adesklets stuff, I'd have to switch window managers, or something, because ratpoison doesn't allow you to see the root window if there are apps up (there's no "minimize")... so, I'd say the more, the better...

with 800 packages in unsupported and growing every day, I'd say the more the better too. Even if TUs don't adopt most of these packages into [community], if there was enough of them, they could more easily keep an eye on those that exist.

probably should subscribe to tur-users, that's where all the talk (arguing) goes on. Its quite entertaining, even if you're just a spectator. ;-)

There are 800 unsupported packages, and 123 supported packages. One month ago that was 100 supported and 600 unsupported. So the ammount of supported packages went slightly down to 13%.

xerces. you need to subscribe to the tur-users mailing list, and gather votes through a process that is laid out, but a bit untested..
In fact, I can't remember where the current guidelines neotuli posted went to..
I can probably find the link when I get home..

are there 800 pkgs in [unsupported]? good god! that's can be right?!
Offline
Depends on how you look at it: Nice that AUR is actually used, less nice that so many packages are unsupported.
Offline
well, if the users voted for more pkgs more would be in [community] - at the moment, casting a brief eye, 70% of the stuff in the AUR is stuff that hardly anyone will ever use - it's great that it is in the AUR but there is really no need for it to be in [community]
All the stuff i think is useful in the AUR is already in [community] - i rarely vote for anything!
Offline
i agree with dibble - putting PKGBUILDs there is good for a central data repository, but putting all unsupported into the community repo isn't a good idea...
