Strangest bug I've ever found: when I start Gnome, a message pops up saying that there's already a session of gnome-panel running, so the new session will be terminated. It seems that the new session keeps respawning, though, because the message pops up again... and again... and again... until I open a terminal, enter killall -9 gnome-panel a dozen times in rapid succession, and start gnome-panel again via the terminal.
I looked at the default Gnome session, the one I use, and it seems normal... :?

i've been getting this message at GNOME startup lately. mine doesn't repeat, just happens the one time.

Hmm... Solved, sort of, by deleting ~/.gnome* and ~/.gconfd. The problem is, if you save your session settings afterwards, it starts up again...
