kahakai is based off of waimea which is base off of fluxbox. It is sad that someone put so much work into kahakai. I have tried to get it to work but I think the change in Xorg, since X is different from when kahakai was around 2002. I have not been able to get it to run. It sure has a lot of python configuration setup. I would not know where to start with my very limited python and C++ background. It sure look like a good WM.

I have used kahakai for nearly 3 month, one and a half years ago. It´s nice, compareable to all *box wm´s.
But as far as i know, the Project is dead. Read the news on the HP.But to be sure, you should join the #kahakai channel on freenode.

I believe the project has been dead for a while. I sniffed it out a couple months ago, and was told it was dead then too. A few of the devs moved on to build a new WM, supposedly with lessons learned from kahakai..

The kahakai guys split up - one of them went on to attempt spook wm and whimsy ( http://incise.org/ )
Two more went on to attempt Aegis ( http://aegis.thegraveyard.org/ )...
I think the Aegis guys abandoned it and started something else... but can't recall

I wouldn't put much faith in the WMs developed by the Kahakai team. They first decided to work on waemia, then gave up and started from scratch on Kahakai, which was going to be the best wm ever. Then they went onto this and that and the next. They can't seem to settle down.
I really liked the *idea* behind kahakai, scriptable in Python... and whimsy too, written in Python... but I don't expect anything to actually. happen. Grand ideas, but no code.

I used kahakai for a while but then the project died and I quit. It was a pretty decent wm though. Its too bad they quit working on it.

I never used it, because it was dead when I found out about it, but maybe it would be cool for somebody to revise. Rasat could use it as a base for his ArchWM...

The code base for it isn't the best - I mean, it's nicely coded, but they went super-overboard with the whol OO thing... so there's like 20 or so "window" type classes... and it's just a window manager...
