Can't get lirc to work with my remote

Hello

I have an Apple Remote v2 and a HP Media Center USB IR receiver (OVU400102/71). The problem is that I don't know how to configure it to work with lirc. I tried some different combination which I thought should work but nothing is shown while I'm testing it in irw but I am able to program the buttons using irrecord. But I don't get any output in irw even after I've programmed the buttons.

I found this wiki article on XBMC on how to configure lirc for apple remote i arch linux, but it doesn't work:

The difference in my setup is that I'm not using apple built in ir receiver but I don't know what to change to make it work.

Any ideas what to change to make it work with the hp media center usb receiver?

Sorry for bumping the thread, but doesn't anyone have any ideas about how to solve this? I'm kinda stuck.

You should be specific about your problem. What did you do, and what does and does not work? Do you get scancodes? Do you get a lirc device in /dev ? How were you able to program the buttons if irw doesn't see anything?

Stuff like that.

I haven't really done any configuration as I don't know which device configuration to choose for lirc.
The device is visible in /dev and somehow irrecord detects it and I'm able to program the remote there, but when trying it in irw nothing is detected. I'm currently at work and doesn't have access to my home computer but I will post the outputs and configurations when I get back home.
