So after installing xorg and finishing the installation guide, i decided to go with xfce as my desktop environment. One problem, pacman aborts the installation. Saying there's conflicting files. I'm including a picture of the output.

Actually I got another conflicting files error when running pacman -Syu
/etc/mtab exists in filesystem
/etc/profile.d/locale.sh exists in filesystem

It's possible that you specified the DBPath to be somewhere else than /var/lib/pacman, check your pacman.conf.

Read the news on the front page; make the necessary changes and then fully update.

They're in the "older news" section on the homepage. Shouldn't be hard to find.
