pacman on two occassions displayed the message as per topic subject when doing an update.

pacman reports that whenever the VerbosePkgLists table would be too wide to fit into your terminal. The output just falls back to the old method, as far as I know.

Make sure the terminal you run pacman in is wide enough.

It seems like you need to have 100 columns available, so increse the size of your terminal or zoom out/use a smaller font untill you have 100+ columns. You can check your number of columns with

echo $COLUMNS

(Bash and zsh at least, maybe other shells, I'm not sure).

I really doubt they're looking for a solution 9 years later, and it all depends on the packages, there's no set number of columns.
