Hello!
I'm trying to install Arch on the HP. It has an internal USB-Port with a 32GB Stick and one HDD with 250GB.
Everything during installation works fine. Putting /boot and / on the stick and /var, /home /swap on the hdd.
But after the first reboot I get the following error messing
Waiting 10 seconds for device /dev/sda1 ...
Root device '/dev/sda1' doesn't exist, Attempting to create it.
ERROR: Unable to determine major/minor number of root device '/dev/sda1'
So I searched the forum and the Wiki.
I found several solutions, but none worked.
I looked in https://wiki.archlinux.de/title/Mkinitcpio and found out, that I had to add
usb
after udev. But it didn't helped.
Then I tried this one: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/27385 Didn't work Also I tried putting
rootfstype=ext4
After that I tried removing
autodetect
from HOOKS described in here https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 26#p813626 Also didn't work.
So right now I don't have any clue how to fix the problem.
Installed Arch2011.08.19
My fstab during installation (sdc -> USB, sda -> HDD)
sdc1 /boot ext2
sdc2 / ext4
sda1 /var ext4
sda2 /home ext4
sda3/data ext4
sda4 /swap swap
Edit:
Finally got it working. Here are instructions https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 4#p1059124
Moreover I had to adapt fstab, because the device names changed after the reboot. My internal USB Stick became sdb and not sdc anymore.
