Switching between opensource and proprietary ATI drivers

Does anybody have a good method for easily switching between the opensource ATI driver and the proprietary driver(Without rebooting, if possible)?
Since Gnome Shell sometimes restarts itself using the proprietary but I need it for my Minecraft addiction.

Thanks in advance.

It's not possible to install them both side by side, so you'd need to write a script that checks which is installed, removes it, and installs the other one. This would definitely require stopping and restarting X, but you might be able to do it without a reboot.

Thanks will try it out,
Btw, any way to control the fan speed with the opensource driver? Since my 5770 is reaaally loud.

Edit: found out that I had to put the card in low power mode
