Ati video card with xf86 driver low resolution

Hi all smile

I'm getting stuck trying to use the xf86 driver. I used to have the catalyst driver installed, but I wanted to try this one out, and now I can't get back to catalyst big_smile
Because I understand the xf86 driver is preferred, I would like to get this one working. However, I can't get X to use a proper resolution instead of 1024x768. From the wiki's and forums I understood I should try to specify a resolution manually, so I created a /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-monitor.conf. I'm not sure if it is actually used by X11, but I added it to the post, just to be sure.
Can anyone see what I'm doing wrong?

/var/log/Xorg.0.log (from one single boot): http://pastebin.com/EbNQSFB3
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-montor.conf: http://pastebin.com/s0nP8wk5

The video card I use is a Ati Mobility Radeon 4500 HD on a HP ProBook 4520s laptop.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Ati video card with xf86 driver low resolution

From what google tells me about your laptop it doesn't support "1680x1050", but only "1366 x 768".
So change this in your 10-monitor.conf and give it a try.

Re: Ati video card with xf86 driver low resolution

I *knew* it was something stupid big_smile
After modifying my 10-monitor.conf, I suddenly realized that I still had an extra monitor connected, after disconnecting and rebooting, X immediately picked up a proper resolution, even after removing the 10-monitor.conf. I completely forgot about that monitor. Thanks anyway!
