My vote is for Ranger !!
I loves it.
For gui I tend to like pcmanfm, though it doesnt have much that makes it stand out, i.e. thunar, nautilus etc are all extraordinarily similar

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?

My favorite is Dolphin, Nautilus, Thunar, or Rox, depending on which DE or WM that I'm using at the time.

I took the liberty of including SS4's vote as well. I don't believe anyone will object to including coreutils in this poll.

Of course, I also use coreutils, but when I need a GUI file manager, I find that Thunar has a nice blend of features and not-trying-to-do-too-much. Also, the hammer icon has quite grown on me.

Vifm works for me, once I change a couple settings. Set some file associations, and change the default behaviour for deleting files from just moving them to a trash directory to actually using rm and getting rid of them, and I'm good to go.

I like pie. Especially with a side of Arch.

[1] ROX FilerI've tried them all and can't find anything that integrates the command line and keyboard navigation into the gui like rox does. pcmanfm or qtfm need to copy rox's minibuffer for navigation and command line (operates on the selection). Until then, rox is the best.

For GUI:
1. Dolphin - You can't beat the configurability and range of options for me. It can be everything you want it to be. It's what I miss the the most away from KDE.
2. Thunar - my daily file manager, fast, reliable and pleasant. Once I discovered you could edit keyboard shortcuts, it became much more usable.
for CLI
1. coreutils

Less dependencies than Thunar and its copy dialog window is not subject to getting tiled.
