Since having upgraded some packages a few days ago, among which xorg server 1.12, I have been unable to get the correct resolution in my Arch vbox guest (on a win7 host).
I have since installed xorg 1.11 again, along with the vesa and evdev drivers for that version from the [xorg111] repo (as suggested in https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=137564 ). Also disabled the testing repos and reinstalled the packages that were marked as newer than in the repos.
xrandr gives me:
xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default
Screen 0: minimum 640 x 480, current 1024 x 768, maximum 1024 x 768
default connected 1024x768+0+0 0mm x 0mm
1024x768 61.0*
800x600 61.0
640x480 60.0
So I'm stuck with a 1024x768 resolution on a laptop screen that previously worked fine with 1366x768. Xrandr used to name the screen something other than "default", but I can't remember what it was.

In the previously mentioned thread I've noticed that xorg wants to load a vboxvideo module, which isn't the case here, so I was wondering if it's supposed to want to load vboxvideo module or not?
I have updated virtualbox to 4.1.10 r76795, the guest addtions and modules should be the correct versions as well.
