Hi
after a long time of using KDE i want so switch to GNOME.
I installed gnome and gnome-extras. Everything without errors. I have a xfree server.
When I start GNOME in got a mennage the something is wrong with XKB
I have only the german message:
Fehler beim Aktivieren der XKB-Konfiguration.
Dies kann verschiedene Gründe haben:
- ein Fehler in der libxklavier-Bibliothek
- ein Fehler im X-Server (xkbcomp, xmodmap utilities)
- ein X-Server mit nicht kompatibler libxkbfile-Implementation
Versionsdaten des X-Servers:

Falls Sie einen Fehlerbericht zu diesem Problem einschicken, sollte dieser umfassen:
- Das Ergebnis von <b>xprop -root | grep XKB</b>
- Das Ergebnis von <b>gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/kbd</b>
XKB worked fine in KDE
a litle bit later I got an second error:
Das Bild gnome-screenshot.png konnte nicht geladen werden
Details: Symbol nicht gefunden
Starting gnome-background-propertys as user causes :

it works as root!
what have I to do to get my GNOME running. Its so much faster then KDE!

I fixed the first error with the XKB. I installed xorg and it works.
But the second error with pango still exists!
