error: the following file conflicts were found:
udev: /etc/scsi_id.config: exists in filesystem
errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
Just did an update today, and was wondering if anyone else got this error. I dont even use udev yet, but it is crealy installed, and the conflict is listed with itself! lol
:oops:
I forced it:
pacman -Sy
pacman -S udev --force
so..no harm, small foul. I was just wondering why it was reporting an error...

I have too the same problem. :cry:

Same error here...
BTW: I deleted scsi_id.config before retrying and this time the udev update went fine and a new scsi_id.config file was automatically written to replace the old one. No errors this time.

Same one, updated anyway with -Sfu. No problems so far... In fact, that alsa restore problem is now solved.

before upgrading:
$ pacman -Qo /etc/scsi_id.config
No package owns /etc/scsi_id.config
after:
# diff scsi_id.config scsi_id.config.bak
#
so I guess it's safe

I got the error too. Sounds like a bug report should be filed, if this hasn't happened yet.
For me, pacman reports that no package owns /etc/scsi_id.config. Ms. Pacman begged me not to force Mr. Pacman to overwrite the file, but she was too late.
Sweet, now I can play with myself.

aha! so a previous installation or update of udev orphaned a file, and a later install rode in on its tractor and plowed it over..

ls -l /etc/scsi_id.config

[07/04/05 02:27] upgraded udev (058-4 -> 060-1)
So it's from 060-1 I guess.

Yep - I've got exactly the same error:

ditto
edit: I updated and it kind of screwed up my fluxbox x-windows stuff. You know that grainy static appareance the xdm login screen has as it's background? It has become my background. It appears somehow this update deleted my bsetbg command from /usr/bin. Anyone know how to get that back?
edit: but apparently fbsetbg now works which I was never able to use before so.....no harm there I guess. What a weird situation.
edit2: haha I'm dumb, I simultaneously updated fluxbox to the most recent version so that was probably what affected that. My bad guys, sorry.

Use fbsetbg. I *think* it has replaced bsetbg in newest fluxbox.
EDIT: I didn't saw your edit. :?

I had the same problem with lshwd, but no problems with udev...I haven't done an update since yesterday, but i will try it when i get home tonight...

this error accured with 060-4 which Judd posted a link to on the mailing list which i happen to test, his reply was
Sorry, please re-download and try again.
after that there was no problem so it'll probably be solved with 062-2
060-4 was a successful attempt to solve usb and symlink problems

happened to me bt easily sorted

Just a brief update - the udev issue is causing an "update hold-up" at the moment:
# pacman -Syu
:: Synchronizing package databases...

Total Package Size: 3.8 MB

udev: /etc/scsi_id.config: exists in filesystem
errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
[root@myhost username]#
That's zlib, udev & man-pages not upgraded.

if you read the first post, just do a --force on it, and it will update.
