I have a Brother MFC-665CW attached to my LAN and can print without problem. Scanning is another issue.
Has anybody had success with this model?
I have gone through the wiki and corrected the omissions one by one and Xsane and Skanlite still can't see the scanner.
The only thing I can see at this point is that my model is not listed as supported by the sane backend 'brother2' although it is supported by the driver 'brscan2'.
I want to eliminate Ubuntu from my life but I can't until I get my scanner working on Arch.
I don't want to landfill a perfectly good scanner.

Basically the problem was 64bit/32bit driver issue as per this link:
