Catalyst problems

Hi,
Having problems with the Catalyst driver. I don't have the technical knowledge of Linux, and was hoping someone may have solved this problem and could help.

If I install a fresh version of Archlinux and my preferred desktop environment and do all the updates and then install catalyst from AMD's site, it all works great,  but after uninstalling and re-installing to upgrade to the latest version of the catalyst driver, it don't work any more.

After trying to figure-out what the installer has done differently, I noticed when I installed the first time, it creates a folder in /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions called fglrx and puts a file (fglrx***) in that folder that seems to have a symbolic link pointing to it from libgl from the extensions folder.
After re-installing the catalyst driver it don't put that file back in that folder and no symbolic link.

I tried uninstalling and re-installing xorg and deleting any folder that I can find that the catalyst driver created, but no luck.
