Problems after pm-hibernate

I've been having a couple of problems with pm-hibernate.
1) Sometimes pm-hibernate will not work. I'll run the command, and it'll just turn to a black screen, but never fully shutdown.

2) If pm-hibernate succeded on resume I am unable to open applications (terminal, firefox, etc.)
