Hi!
I installed arch on my Acer Aspire 3810T. I run it with gnome 3, for more detail. Whenever I try to put it to sleep mode (either through the button or through the menu) it goes correctly to sleep mode (I see the led blinking in orange, just like it does on Windows, screen goes off, etc). When trying to wake up the LED turns back on, lasts about 1-2 seconds and it shutdowns itself making that terrible sound of the disk, just like when you hold down the power button to force shutdown it.
This has never worked on linux on this computer. I have run Ubuntu on a wide variety of computers and I never had problems putting the computer to sleep. On this laptop it just doesn't work on any distro. What logs should I review?
Thanks!

I had a similar issue with a Dell Mini Inspiron 10 - the solution was to disable Intel Speedstep in the BIOS, and the problem was resolved. Maybe it is the same issue here?
Take a look at the following article:

Hope it helps!
Be formless, shapeless... like water. Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup; you put water into a bottle it becomes the bottle; if you put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot... Now water can flow, or it can crash... Be water my friend

Thanks, it wasn't that solution, but the one just above it!
Solved finally! This is the link anyway: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pm … of_wake_up

In case anyone else has this problem: the i8042.reset=1 didn't work for me, but i8042.nomux did (disabling PS/2 Y adapter in my bios worked to the same effect). http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions … -of-ubuntu

Thanks for sharing. Please add this information to the wiki (if it isn't already present).
I'm going to go ahead and close this old topic now.
