Every time I bring my wireless interface up, after a few minutes, (faster if there's activity) the entire computer will freeze, throwing errors like:
queue 4 stuck for 2000ms
on demand firmware reload
to my console screen. (I haven't setup a DE yet.)
I thought it was an arch problem, but when I tried different distros (archbang and linux mint, to be exact) the exact same thing would happen after a short amount of network activity. Sometimes I can't even connect to my wireless network before it freezes, and sometimes it will work for some time until dieing. I googled around a bit, and discovered some other people were having the same problem a while ago, but with the difference that their computers would return to normal after a short period of time. I don't ever get control back over my computer, I have to use the power button to shut it down.
The output of lspci | grep -i net is:
[epers@dell-arch ~]$ lspci | grep -i net
09:00.0 Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5755M Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express (rev 02)
0b:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 4965 AG or AGN [Kedron] Network Connection (rev 61)
I can provide any other log/command output you would need to help me solve this problem.
Thanks,
Edwin
EDIT: It even freezes on widows, so maybe it's a bios problem. I'll try updating the bios and report back.

Maybe its a hardware problem.

This vaguely reminds me of a problem I had a while back, discussed here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=101844 Unfortunately, the only "solution" I've found so far is to use an older Linux distribution that uses an older version of the wifi driver. Wifi on that laptop works with Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron, so I just left that on it.
So... If you're feeling particlary adventurous, you could see if your computer / wifi works with an Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron live CD. If it does work, then that might help you understand the problem better.

No, I'm pretty sure it's a bios problem. The laptop in question is a dell latitude d531, and when I tested the card with windows on the dell, it froze as soon as I turned the wifi on. But when I tried it in a different laptop (acer 7411z, if you want to know) it worked quite well. Does anyone know how to remove the 'white-list' from a laptop bios?
