Ralink wireless keeps on disconnecting

I have a HP 4530s laptop with a fresh Archlinux install. All works well, except the wireless: it connects initially, but then disconnects and I cannot reconnect then, unless I turn the wireless off and on, but then the same process reoccurs.

# lspci:
24:00.0 Network controller: Ralink corp. Device 3592

# dmesg:
first line when disconnecting:
ieee80211 phy0: wlan0: No probe response from AP 00:18:f8:f1:eb:cf after 500ms, disconnecting.

Google tells me this might be related to malfunctioning power management, but I might be mistaking.

At the Ralink site, I can download a driver, which appears to be rt2860sta
From the Arch wiki, I tried to follow https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wireless_Setup section rt2860 and rt2870
I have a hard time to understand what is meant. When I blacklist all the indicated drivers, the wireless does not work at all.
when I do
# modprobe rt2860sta
FATAL: Module rt2860sta not found.

when I do
# modprobe rt2800pci
I get the same behaviour as before.

What can I do best now?

Thanks in advance!
Theo

Re: Ralink wireless keeps on disconnecting

Try disabling power saving and see what that gives as a result.

# iwconfig wlan0 power off

Burninate!
