[SOLVED] Mouse & Keyboard freez in X after downgrading some packages

Finally, I downgraded all needed packages to install nvidia 173xx and I installed it, but, at LXDM start, mouse and keyboard lose theyre functionalities :S I think it could be input-evdev which is downgraded but Im not sure. Packages I have installed now, which are downgraded:

xorg-server-1.10.4
xf86-input-evdev-2.6.0
nvidia-173xx-173.14.31
nvidia-173xx-utils-173.14.31
linux-3.0.7-1 (and docks and headers)

did I miss some downgrade or.. what?

Thank you smile

Re: [SOLVED] Mouse & Keyboard freez in X after downgrading some packages

Does this only happen in an X session, or does your keyboard also not work in console? If only in X, doublecheck what you have in your xorg config (/etc/xorg.conf.d/10-evdev.conf etc).

PS: why did you downgrade those packages?

It do work in console, just not in X.

nvidia-173xx (properitary for my card) is incompatible with xorg-server 1.11>, xorg-server 1.10 won't work on linux 3.0> ;D

When im using nouveau nvidia driver, its all right with all new packages, but Im tryng to install properitary nVidia driver which works much much faster..

Re: [SOLVED] Mouse & Keyboard freez in X after downgrading some packages

I can understand the reasoning behind using the proprietary driver in favour of nouveau, but why are you using an old version of the drivers? What's wrong with the latest release (which will work correctly with the latest kernel, Xorg,...)?

My card is NVIDIA FX 5500, which is 5th series which uses nvidia-173xx, older cards uses 96xx etc. while 6th series+ (I think) uses 295 (newest driver)

Ok. What do your Xorg logs say in regards to keyboard detection?

Re: [SOLVED] Mouse & Keyboard freez in X after downgrading some packages

Meanwhile, I were discovering what packages makes such problem, and with many combinations, I found out these work nice:

linux 3.0.7
xf86-input-evdev 2.5 (2.6 didnt work)
xorg-server 1.9 (1.10 didnt work)

Other are same.
yey! Difference is very noticable smile

Did you meant Xorg.0.log? Here it is:
