Question about updating git/vcs AUR packages
If I understand https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/VC … Guidelines correctly, resubmitting a PKGBUILD to the AUR is only needed if there is a change to sources, depends, etc; but NOT when a commit is pushed to the source of the package?

In general that is correct, but It depends on the impact of the commit.
I maintain a few git packages, and tend to build them myself every 2/3 weeks.
If there is no breakage / new features or other things that require changes in the pkgbuild, i don't upload a new tarball.
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky
