I am using yaourt-gui to install a program. It downloads and builds properly but fails at the end due to a missing dependency. If I have to restart the process, how can I make use of already downloaded and build files so that I do not need to start all over again? I can see that yaourt-gui stores files in /tmp/yaourt-tmp-user/aur-packagename folder. Is there any yaourt-gui command to reuse these files rather than start all over again.

I've never used the gui (I didn't know there was one), but cli yaourt, and other package managers, will do this by default.

I have also decided to stick to manual downloading, unzipping and then using commands 'makepkg -s' and 'pacman -U pkgname.tar.xz' for building and installing, respectively. That way there is greater control on every step.

Check aurget if you wish to have an unobtrusive, semi-automatic solution that doesn't do anything that should be left to either a user, or pacman.
