thinkorswim charting software

there's an intersting piece of charting software called thinkorswim that is now owned by tdameritrade.  It's built with java, and has worked on the past on various Linux systems.

I've done something odd on my system which is preventing it from properly running.  I am able to run this in a virtualbox virtual machine with arch linux but not in my actual OS.

Here's what the problem looks like:
-start client
-enter login credentials
-stuck at loading/logging in screen

I've tried java 6 and 7, both of wich gave the same results.

A few things about my system - linux-ck kernel 3.3.2 on x86_64 bit architecture.

Perhaps there's a way of entirely purging anything jdk jre related that involves more than pacman -Rns <>

any advice would be helpful and I'm curious to hear if anyone is running this software.
