[SOLVED] Installing to existing LVM set up

Hi all,

I have tried looking for this and the info is getting slightly confusing. I have a system with various Linux distributions using LVM. I want to install Arch by creating a new logical volume for it, but the installer cannot even see the PV partition.

Is there a simple way on doing this, or is the installer incapable of using already existing LVM set ups?

Many thanks for any help.

Giving this another shot, I'm re-reading the wiki and may have messed up a command...

The installer should be perfectly capable of seeing and using your existing LVM setup. Have you loaded the "dm-mod" kernel module?

That's the exact part that I think I screwed up on. Thinking back I think I mistyped something. Finishing up somthing on my PC, and I'll be giving this a shot. smile

Re: [SOLVED] Installing to existing LVM set up

I have installed and reinstalled to LVM LVs many times and never manually loaded dm-mod.  But then, I've never used the installer to manipulate LVs (I assumed it couldn't).  I use the command line for everything in that regard.

Also, to get the installer to see existing LVs, you have to activate them.
