[SOLVED] Evergreen HDMI: no audio

I use opensource driver (xf86-video-ati 6.14.4-2, linux 3.3.3-1). My graphics card is connected to TV via HDMI. The picture is OK, but no sound. When I boot with

radeon.audio=1

option I have no display (my TV says that mode is not supported).

When I run

aplay -D plughw:1,3 /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav

I get no sound.

Is there anything I can do to use HDMI audio?

Re: [SOLVED] Evergreen HDMI: no audio

Have same problem with 6000 audio [ waiting for fix in 3.4 ]
Other box has 5000 audio but with kernel [stock from arch] 3.3.2-1
and HDMI audio WORKS  as configured with arch-alsa faq.

Re: [SOLVED] Evergreen HDMI: no audio

So, now it's linux 3.4.4-2, but the problem remains the same: booting with "radeon.audio=1" still results in "Not Supported Mode" message on my TV (Samsung LE22S81B).

$ cat /sys/class/graphics/fb0/modes
U:1680x1050p-0@60

BTW, the TV manual even lists the supported modes' properties:

Resolution: 1680x1050
Horizontal frequency: 64.674 kHz
Vertical frequency: 59.883 Hz
Pixel Clock frequency: 119 MHz
+HSync -VSync

The interlace mode is not supported.
Separate and Composite modes are supported. SOG  is not supported.

Is there any way to translate this to the "video=" kernel configuration string?

Re: [SOLVED] Evergreen HDMI: no audio

FWIW booting with "radeon.modeset=0 radeon.audio=1" doesn't help with audio. Does anyone know whether HDMI audio is supposed to work in such setup at all?

BTW, "radeon.modset=0" gets all the clutter-based UI elements either replaced with black rectangles instead or flicker.

Re: [SOLVED] Evergreen HDMI: no audio

Thanks everyone, the problem is solved now: the string

video=1280x720 radeon.audio=1

did the job – now I have both sound and usable screen resolution.
