Boot Failure: udev static devices nodes missing??

Hi all,

Having trouble booting my arch box after giving it a reboot for the first time in over 200 days! And now I can't get back in!

First error of quite a few is this:
/bin/cp: cannot stat '/lib/udev/devices/*': No such file or directory

I've seen similar issues posted in other places but they all at least seem to have /dev/devices to work with whereas I now don't!

In rc.sysinit I can see the line that calls

/bin/cp /lib/udev/devices/* /dev

but when I investigate in Maintenance mode my /lib/udev/devices folder is empty! Is this normal?

Any help much appreciated.

KC

In addition to udev stuff having moved to /usr, even there the udev/devices/ dir is empty, and it's normal. It's not needed anymore for the general case, because devices are provided by devtmpfs now. If you use a custom kernel, make sure it has devtmpfs support.

Seems like you have an old version of initscripts (and probably a new version of udev).
