I have been using guayadeque as my main manager for my music collection but have found to be a little buggy lately and can't seem to get my ipod to play nice. So I decided to look for a differnet player to see what was out there, and ended up trying just about every player or manager I could find. I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for any players or managers that aren't as well known. I have a large FLAC collection, use my ipod regulary and need something that converts on the fly well and also like to have integration with last.fm or something similar to access artist and album info.....I am a huge music junkie. Anyway the ones I tried that were close to what I was looking at were listen and banshee.

I don't own an ipod, but i think Clementine has an option to sync with ipods. http://www.clementine-player.org/es/
you can find it under community/clementine

I use Banshee with Gnome shell and it works great for music and managing my iPod.

+1
I also don't own an iPod. However, I've found Clementine to be a very good music player/manager.

Thanks for the suggestions, I tried Clementine not too long ago and had some issues with my Ipod, not sure if it was a Clementine issue though. I'll have to give it another try and see how it goes.

You may try to look at MPD - it's a client-server based solution. An application called MPD (Music Player Daemon) takes care of music playback and library and this kind of stuff while in "userland" you can have multiple graphics or console user interfaces (so called clients or frontends). My favorite frontend would be Sonata but there are many with different features - you can try them all while still having the MPD backend doing its job regardless the frontend.
What happened to Arch's KISS? systemd sure is stupid but I must have missed the simple part ...
... and who is general Failure and why is he reading my harddisk?
