safe to delete /usr/share/gtk-doc/html ?

It contains about 19 MB of html files which I don't think I need.  Safe to delete?  Same for

/usr/share/gtk3
/usr/share/pygtk
/usr/share/gtk-doc

Re: safe to delete /usr/share/gtk-doc/html ?

I would not delete files. Even if they aren't needed, they will just appear again when the package is upgraded.

Edit: Removed deleting gtk-doc from my advice, it's not just that package that places files there.

Re: safe to delete /usr/share/gtk-doc/html ?

Makepkg used to do this by default so it is perfectly safe. In fact I wrap pacman in a script that deletes directories like this. The only package I know of that stores important stuff there is gtk-doc itself.

Great things come in tar.xz packages.

@CB - can you post a link to the wrapper script of which you speak?  Sounds useful.

I don't know what is considered important, but that is certainly not the only package to store info there:

:/usr/share/gtk-doc/html$ pacman -Qo */* | awk '{print $5 $6;}' | sort -u
error: cannot determine ownership of directory 'pygtk/cursors'
error: cannot determine ownership of directory 'pygtk/icons'

It seems many packages use this folder.  And this is on a pretty lightweight system (dwm only, no DE).

There are apps that can slim down your system by removing docs, locales etc. e.g. bleachbit.

Enjoy. But please be warned that it makes some other reckless modifications... you might not want all of them.
