VLC and new ttf-freefont package

Since upgrading ttf-freefont from 20100919-2 to 20120503-1, I noticed VLC displays certain subtitles differently. Before doing this comparison, I already reset VLC preferences to default. Also changing the subtitle font from Century Schoolbook L (default) to DejaVu Sans makes no difference whatsoever.

If the problem is the font itself, how do I force VLC not to use it?

Dumb question: have you actually installed the Dejavu fonts (ttf-dejavu)?

Re: VLC and new ttf-freefont package

Yes of course:

~ $ pacman -Q | grep ttf
ttf-arphic-uming 0.2.20080216.1-3
ttf-dejavu 2.33-3
ttf-freefont 20120503-1
