hi.
i've got a sony vaio with a belkin wireless usb adapter (which i'm led to believe uses to rt2500 chipset).
had a go with ndiswrapper but it didn't seem to work very well with PSK authentication (which is what we use at home)- i've installed both the serialmonkey rt2500 driver AND the ural port of the bsd driver onto the laptop and both modprobe fine-
my question is, how do i allocate the port so that they show up in iwconfig? i've added ra0 to my /etc/rc.conf file but still nothing there.
any help would be greatly appreciated, i've been mucking about with this for almost a week now!

There is an opensource driver for thr rt2400 and rt2500. I think they have added USB support now. If not then its in the works. Try the cvs.

It works a whole lot better without kernel preemption, which is enabled on ARCH kernels. You could compile your own to remedy this. It works with kernel preemption but sometimes freezes.

Which belkin wireless usb adapter do you have? mine is a Belkin USB 802.11g - 54 Mbps, it says F5D7050 in the back. Works ok with "rt2570 USB nightly CVS tarball: rt2570-CVS" from here.
Also works with the ralink driver "USB(Source Code) 2005/06/01 Drv2.0.3.0" but I have to patch it to add my stick usb id

Yep same one. I had thought it wasn't working but it was my PSK stuff making it act a bit flaky. The windows partition with the original driver also drops every now and again so it must be down to the usb dongle.
Thanks for replying!
