KDE Upgrade to 4.8.3 disconnected Global Volume Meter

Hello everyone.

I recently upgraded to KDE 4.8.3, and I'm now running into an issue where the global volume bar (controlled by the media buttons on my keyboard among other things) no longer is connected to volume output. The bar still goes up and down when I press the keys, but the volume output remains unchanged. As a workaround, I'm using the alsamixer in a terminal window I keep open, but I'm unsure how to troubleshoot further to get this working again.

As a side note, GNOME doesn't seem to have any issue, so I think it's pulseaudio/kmix related, but that's as far as I can tell.

Many thanks everyone.

Argh, I tried everything but the obvious.

Kmix was set to the wrong master channel. That'll probably not change much. Never mind.
