I was playing Diablo 3 just fine, however I stopped around the 6/25 due to various events.
Seeing the "Linux Ban Hammer" information has made me worried of opening the game again.
I do have Windows installed (but rarely use is) but would prefer to not redownload the game.

So I am asking here. Are my fellow Arch Linux users playing Diablo 3 ok?

I've been occupied with other things and haven't touched D3 for a while. If you're concerned about the ban hammer, read my earlier post. It isn't a huge consolation, but apparently the Blizzard reps seem to be aware of Wine players. Advice I've read elsewhere suggested sending them a ticket voicing your concerns so that they know you're a Wine user and they understand that we're paid customers who are pretty concerned about getting banned for doing nothing more than using a different OS.

On the other hand, you don't necessarily have to redownload the game. Just mount your Windows disk or partition and copy the D3 installation over. I had a WoW install that dated back to open beta that was never reinstalled and lived through about 6 Windows installs (including different major hardware at least twice), 32-bit Gentoo, 64-bit Gentoo, back to 32-bit Gentoo for a short time, some flavor of Ubuntu, then back to 64-bit Gentoo and then on Arch for a 7 day trial a buddy sent me. D3 should be about the same, and my current install I'm using under Arch was originally from Windows; the reverse should be possible, just make sure to use the launcher (Diablo III Launcher.exe) as you likely already do in Arch.

Re: Diablo 3 on archlinux

I always got "A new patch is available for download" and then the game restarted, but the Launcher said everything is up to date.

I had to install lib32-libldap. After that, everything works really awesome. I am using the wine version from the arch repos.
Here is my launch script:

cd .wine/drive_c/Program\ Files\ \(x86\)/Diablo\ III/
setarch i386 -3 wine Diablo\ III.exe -launch &> /dev/null &
sleep 20
taskset -cp 0 `pidof Diablo\ III.exe`

Without 'taskset' the game runs really laggy.
