After system upgrade, SDL sound no longer works [SOLVED]

Hi, web browsers and media players still give sound as usual, but apps that use SDL (SDL_mixer to be precise, and the files are ogg vorbis) suddenly stopped producing any sound, although they seem to "work" properly, ie no error messages or anything.
A reboot didn't help.

Any ideas?

I found that in pavucontrol the app was set to volume zero.
I'm tempted to believe that it was I who set it there, although I don't remember it. =P
