[SOLVED] Pulseaudio only shows one mixer control

Hi everybody!
I use Gnome 3.4, and it works quite well, but its integration with pulseaudio is sometimes frustrating. I can prevent Gnome from using pulse, but if I would prefer to avoid "hacking" the system, as the two are meant to cooperate.
The problem is that if I use pulseaudio every mixer application only shows one control for input and one for output, instead of the several ones showed if pulse is not in use. This is a problem since my microphone is not too professional and it's necessary to adjust levels quite precisely to use Skype.
I've googled for a pair of hours, but can't find relevant information on this. While I go on searching, does anybody have clues?
Thank you!

EDIT: I specify that, by mixer control, I mean for example Master, PCM, Headphones, Mic boost aso
I've also found that interesting files are in /usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/paths, but I have no clue on how to use them. Still googling about it.

I don't know, as I've always experienced it since I use Arch

I don't know why, but I have access to the controls if I use the applications called "mixer" by Gnome-shell.

Re: [SOLVED] Pulseaudio only shows one mixer control

You can either modify your asoundrc to set the hw mixer to default or run alsamixer (or whatever mixer you want) specifying the hardware mixer. When you use pulseaudio, the 'default' mixer volume shown is of course pulseaudio itself.

I got it, thank you very much! -)
In fact, what that Mixer application was showing was the hardware mixer. My greatest worry was exactly about alsamixer, I never noticed that option.
