Asus P8P67 + NVidia Quadro 2000 = a strange freeze (keyboard + video)

I'm working with a new desktop based on the Asus P8P67 motherboard and with the NVidia Quadro 2000 graphics. I'm using a quite standard configuration that worked for many years on numerous machines (a 'template' installation). I experienced a very mysterious but critical problem I can't solve -- any help welcome.
I log to the TTY1 and start a graphical desktop environment (XFCE), then I switch to the TTY2 and log in. After switching several times between those two sessions with Ctrl-Alt-F2, Crtl-Alt-F7 I experience a strange behavior: the screen gets dark (sometimes my monitor switches off, sometimes -- it doesn't), the keyboard doesn't react even to NumLock nor CapsLock and the computer seems to be completely dead but after connecting via ssh and killing the X session it unfreezes and works fine (although I cannot start a new X session -- starting it freezes). Absolutely no errors in any logs. Everything seems to be fine... except it continuously freezes as described above. My config is as follows:

Re: Asus P8P67 + NVidia Quadro 2000 = a strange freeze (keyboard + video)

Moderator comment:
@quayasil:  Can I get you to please use BBCode code tags around program output? It puts the output in a small window, automatically adds scroll bars, uses an em-quad font so that columns line up, and is generally more pleasant to read.

There is also a link at the bottom of every post text box.

Thanks.

(Sorry I've no help on your problem sad )

Re: Asus P8P67 + NVidia Quadro 2000 = a strange freeze (keyboard + video)

Solved by https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Nv … s.22_issue

A new file: /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-nvidia.conf :

Section "Device"
    Identifier "Device0"
    Option "ModeValidation" "NoTotalSizeCheck"
EndSection

fixed it.
